5th Grade Project Guide (2011-2012) Quarter 2 (October-January)

Quarter 2 (October/November/December/January)

10/17-10/19: Book Report #1 due to Mrs. Benigno  Be prepared on your assigned day to answer questions about your book. There is no written book report.

10/17-10/21: Final Poetry Performance  Students will perform their entire Poem for 2 test grades. Students are expected to use the critique sheets to perfect their Poem performance. Selections must be fully memorized. Any students not called upon in class will be called the following class period or during another culture class.

10/24-10/28: Prose Workshop

10/27: Book Check for Mrs. Benigno  Bring to class for approval a book which you have selected from the book list.

10/31-11/4: Prose Performance  All students perform the first half of their Prose in class today. Classmates will critique the performance and students may have the opportunity to review performances on video. The first ½ of the selection must be memorized. Students are expected to have worked fully on all the areas listed on the performance sheet. A test grade will be given for this assignment.

11/8-11/12: PowerPoint Outline Due  *Note final due date below. Milestone dates will be provided later in conjunction with Social Studies.

11/8-1/13: Speech to Inform  Student should work on their Speech to Inform. The FINAL SPEECH is to be on the G drive by 3:00 on 13th. Students will continue to work on the PowerPoint Presentation in school and the speech must be updated throughout the process. If a student wishes to work on the speech/PowerPoint at home, he/she must use a flash drive and update the G drive regularly. Teachers will check speeches throughout the process. Students are suggested to have a copy of their PowerPoint at home so they may practice performing their speech with the visual presentation.
